Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Both laptops are Dell Inspiron, 2 years old but different models. Drivers were updated recently during the Win 10 upgrade. The tablet is a Samsung Tab 3, not sure about the status of the current network card drivers.

When I go back to the Action Centre, the Airplane Mode button is still indicating that airplane mode is activated despite wi-fi and bluetooth seemingly working fine. As two different parts of the system are giving me conflicting information, I assume, rightly or wrongly, that this is likely to be a software issue. If the issue persist then, I suggest you to create a new user account and check if you still face the issue.

Please refer the link below to create a new user account. If you are facing the issue with Microsoft account, I suggest you to run the Microsoft account troubleshooter and check if it helps. I believe the issue is that although Airplane mode is actually NOT on, it shows that it is on login.

Clicking it once turns it on, and a second time turns airplane mode off, with the correct gray background colour. Airplane mode is allways displayed on, although it is in fact not activated Bluetooth and Wifi work. On each device there is only a single administrator account which I log into using my MS user name and password.

I don't particularly want to creat new user accounts on each device on the off chance that this will resolve the issue. As I have pointed out this is a relatively minor irritation but an irritation non the less.
